Ethics Committee
The Bioethics Committee of the Cancer Research Center - Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology of Cancer CIC-IBMCC (USAL-CSIC), and of the Cancer Research Foundation of the University of Salamanca (FICUS), is constituted in order to give better compliance with the regulations on bioethical aspects required in the research funding calls for researchers attached to the CIC-IBMCC (USAL / CSIC) and/or FICUS, and in coherence with current regulations on ethical research into CSIC and/or USAL.
It is about giving an agile response and in accordance with the quality standards of the center, in the review and certification of the projects presented by the researchers of the same, regarding the use of personal data, of biological samples of origin human, animal experimentation, use of biological agents or genetically modified organisms, which not only must meet the requirements established in each case by current legislation, but must also obtain the express authorization issued by the Bioethics Committee of the CIC-IBMCC and / or FICUS, as appropriate.
The Committee performs its functions in general with respect to all the research groups that are attached to the CIC-IBMCC and the FICUS, as well as with respect to the activities of researchers linked to any of said institutions, submitting the projects to a report submitted by individual or grouped researchers, provided they have an impact on the scope set in the corresponding regulations of said committee, and / or in the terms required by current legislation. This Committee may be inhibited in those projects that expressly require a report issued directly by the Ethics Committees of the USAL or the CSIC.
Among its functions are those of (i) issuing the reports requested by researchers on research projects or works that involve studies on human beings, use of their personal data or biological samples of human origin, animal experimentation or use of biological agents or organisms. genetically modified, or that affect the environment, (ii) prepare reports for submission to the corresponding governing bodies on ethical problems that may arise in the research and teaching carried out at the center, (iii) promote debate in the community attached to the center on bioethical issues of general interest and disseminate in public opinion the ethical implications of scientific advances and their applications and offer the precise information to understand their scope and possible consequences and finally (iv) any other functions that it attribute the current legislation.

Comité de Bioética
El Comité de Bioética del Centro de Investigación del Cáncer- Instituto de Biología Molecular y Celular del Cáncer CIC-IBMCC (USAL-CSIC), y de la Fundación del Investigación del Cáncer de la Universidad de Salamanca (FICUS), se constituye con el fin de dar mejor cumplimiento a la normativa en materia de aspectos bioéticos, exigida en las convocatorias de financiación a la investigación, a las que optan los investigadores adscritos al CIC-IBMCC (USAL/CSIC) y la FICUS, y en coherencia con la normativa vigente en materia de investigación ética del CSIC y de la USAL.
Se trata de dar una respuesta ágil y acorde con los estándares de calidad del centro, en la revisión y certificación de los proyectos presentados por los/as investigadores/as del mismo, en cuanto a la utilización de datos personales, de muestras biológicas de origen humano, experimentación animal, empleo de agentes biológicos o de organismos genéticamente modificados, que no sólo deberán cumplir los requisitos establecidos en cada caso por la legislación vigente, sino que deberán obtener la autorización expresa emitida por el Comité de Bioética del CIC-IBMCC y/o de la FICUS, según corresponda.
El Comité desempeña sus funciones con carácter general respecto a todos los grupos de investigación que se encuentren adscritos al CIC-IBMCC y a la FICUS, así como respecto a las actividades de los investigadores vinculados a cualquiera de dichas instituciones, sometiéndose a informe, los proyectos que los investigadores individuales o agrupados presenten, siempre que tengan incidencia en el ámbito fijado en el reglamento correspondiente de dicho comité, y/o en los términos que exija la legislación vigente. Este Comité podrá inhibirse en aquellos proyectos que requieran, de forma expresa, informe emitido directamente por los Comités de Ética de la USAL o del CSIC.
Entre sus funciones están las de (i) emitir los informes solicitados por investigadores sobre proyectos o trabajos de investigación que impliquen estudios en seres humanos, utilización de sus datos personales o de muestras biológicas de origen humano, experimentación animal o empleo de agentes biológicos u organismos genéticamente modificados, o que afecten al medio ambiente, (ii) elaborar informes para su elevación a los órganos de gobierno correspondientes sobre los problemas éticos que puedan suscitarse en la investigación y la docencia desarrollada en el centro, (iii) promover el debate en la comunidad adscrita al centro sobre cuestiones bioéticas de interés general y difundir en la opinión pública las implicaciones éticas de los avances científicos y sus aplicaciones y ofrecer la información precisa para comprender su alcance y sus posibles consecuencia y por ultimo (iv) cualesquiera otras funciones que le atribuya la legislación vigente.
