The Nutrient - Rag GTPase axis in the control of mammalian metabolism

The Rag GTPase signaling pathway connects cellular nutrient sufficiency with cellular metabolism. Gain-of-function and loss-of-function alleles for the Rag GTPases engineered in mice have provided critical insight on how this signaling pathway controls systemic metabolic adaptations to fasting, and have begun to uncover the consequences of deregulated nutrient signaling in cancer and in the process of aging. I will present current work in the Metabolism and Cell Signaling Lab on the pathophysiology of nutrient signaling.
